Gran's Visit

My Mother arrived in Phoenix November 17th at 9:15pm, ready to hold her Great-Grand-Baby. Of course, it was still an hour and half hour drive up the hill to Payson, but I queued up the computer so she could look at pictures while we drove. I know the drive felt like it took forever, but soon enough we made it to Britene and Glenn's. She walked in and went right to the sink to wash her hands. While washing up, Britene planted a few kisses on Raven and then passed her over.

A tired but jubilant Vicki gets off the plane in Phoenix after working all day and traveling all night. Tired and road weary, she still faces another hour and a half before getting to her great-grand-daughter, but she is still smiling.

Once we arrived, Gran went right into the kitchen to wash up. Raven and Britene share a giggle of excitement now that she is here.
After washing her hands, Gran gets to hold little Raven. I don't think she is quite believing how precious this little bundle of joy is.
Placing Raven immediately up on her shoulder, Gran enjoys the smell and feel of Girl-Baby again, after all these years.
Gran is content to just sit and watch Raven sleep. By the way, she has already figured out that Raven can sleep anywhere.
The next day, Raven gets a chance to check Gran out a little. She seems a little captivated herself.
Once settled back into Gran's comfortable lap, Raven begins explaining what she likes and doesn't like with little cooing noises.
The part we all want to do... feed Raven. Gran gets honors today.
Raven naps instead of burps. She used to burp herself, now you have to hold your mouth just right to get even close. Gran doesn't look like she minds the extra time it takes.
After a while, Gran had to call in the expert. Glenn holds her and burps her in just a moment while Gran watches.
Gran got to WATCH a bath -- not actually give one. Britene really likes this part I think. It's that, or she doesn't trust anyone else to do it as well.
While laying in Gran's lap, Raven sleeps. As she tries to wake up, her eyes roll around a lot. Gran enjoyed just sitting with Raven in her lap.
It doesn't take much to entertain Gran. Just hand her Raven.
One month old today! Look at those cheeks.
Like all of us, Gran likes sneaking in for a kiss on the cheek. Raven doesn't seem to mind. This one is for you Alice.  =)
Glenn and Britene dressed little Raven in this dress to see if it would work for the impending nuptials. Glenn dressed her, added the head band and shoes and Raven never woke up.
This little cutie just snuggled right down in Gran's lap. A little finger brushing her lips indicates she is starting to wake up -- hungry.
Raven is eating wonderfully, and starting to gain a little weight. We think she is up to almost 8 lbs. Britene says she is SOOOOO glad Raven came early if this is how large she would be "going to term".
Each morning, Gran would get a little "Raven time". The best part was when Raven would smile to see her. This was the day of Britene and Glenn's wedding, so there was a lot of activity while these two took a few minutes.
Friday night after the wedding and dinner Gran got to give Raven a bath. I could be wrong, but I think Mom enjoyed this more than Raven did, and Raven loves her bath's.
After the "honeymoon" and they returned home, Britene spent some time getting over how much Raven changed in one day.

Oh, this is going to be so much fun.
